Young people need a yoda. They need someone "running the race" of the Christian life ahead of them. They need someone who can help teach them and provide an example to them. 

This is a truth discussed by Ben Stuart at a recent Desiring God National Conference. 

"My hope for you is that in your pursuit of the Lord you would not neglect the important work of imparting the truths of God's Word to the next generation."
