Jesus commands us to make disciples (Matt 28:18-20). Peter tells us that we should be using our gifts to invest in one another (1 Pet 4:10). Paul and Timothy give us the example of teaching faithful men who will be able to teach others also (2 Tim 2:2). The Bible is full of encouragement to “confess your sins to one another” (James 5:16), to “be devoted to one another in love” (Romans 12:10), and to “comfort one another” (1 Thess 4:18). All of this reminds us – being involved in one another’s lives is not option for the Christian man.
Discipleship is a necessary element of our lives and ministry to one another, and our Men’s Discipleship Groups provide a context for that to take place.
Rather than having a once-a-week “event” for the men of Canyon, we have numerous Discipleship Groups of men meeting together at varying times throughout the week, with each group focusing on a topical discussion, spiritual prayer requests, relationships and accountability.
Each group has it’s own leader, meets at a different time, day, and location, and covers a different biblical topic for discussion. These groups are intended to be long term groups. Over time, as men come and go and people’s schedules change, there will be some flexibility with men changing groups, but the intention is that men will stay plugged into the same group for a long period of time, building relationships with the other men in their group.
To find out how you can be involved in one of these groups, you can contact Jason Drumm, either by calling the church office, or by email.
